Broker Associate

I was born in a small town on the Rhine River in Germany and left with my family asthey moved to Canada looking for opportunity – I grew up in Montreal, quickly assimilating into both the English and French languages and culture. Just fyi, Montreal was really a happening place then!

One deep and dark December, craving warmth and sunshine, I moved to Florida and got a job which began a career in investment banking. Ideals and ethics drew me back to Canada briefly where together with a partner we began a small furniture manufacturing company. Ultimately, the political climate in Quebec and compelling memories of the beauty of the Monterey Bay which I had seen in springtime the year before on a cross-country trip, led me to a permanent move to California. From that point on I lived in, worked in and raised my two daughters in almost every corner of the SF Bay Area, from Sausalito, Ross, San Francisco, Menlo Park and Walnut Creek. In 1991 I took a giant leap, quit my administrative job at UCSF and headed for Santa Cruz. On a whim and a suggestion from a family member, I decided to become a real estate agent – my own boss! finally! Little did I know how much hard work, determination, and what long hours would be involved to become a successful agent in an area where I had no social network developed. My success, has been driven by blind determination, bottomless curiosity, a strong sense of caring for others, hope, and the need to support my two young daughters. Twenty years later, I have a Real Estate Broker’s License in hand. My girls are grown and my new joy is my two beautiful young grandchildren. These twenty-plus years have shown me the full range of excitement and despair – they have uncovered my love for vintage and unique properties, architecture, and the beautiful variety of lands and vistas here in the Monterey Bay area. Through remodeling and restoring 6 properties, including an 1888 Victorian, and 1908 Craftsman cottage (where I currently live) I’ve learned a lot about construction and I’ve learned to respect the houses, the land, and the people who live in and on them. It is still so rewarding to me to be given the trust of a first time home buyer, or a seller, or an investor, as they take a step in a new direction through real estate. I am grateful for the opportunity to be continually enriched by the many faceted experience this profession allows me.

When I’m not “in the thick of it” real estate wise, I find pleasure in the small things – an aimless walk through the forest scrutinizing the flora and fauna, rock and shell hunting on the beach, or just gazing at the wonder of the blue and nighttime sky. Tennis, kayaking, sewing, writing, painting and home repair and a lot of other interests fill in the shrinking cracks.
